│ "Having developed a taste for electronic music many years ago │
│ through the aggressive sounds of early industrial acts like │
│ Skinny Puppy and Einsurzende Neubauten, you'd figure that it │
│ would take a lot for a record to scare this reviewer. And │
│ normally, you'd be right. But this mini-album from Bay Area │
│ producers Octavius (William Marshall) and 4 AM (Jason Chavez) │
│ scares the bejeezus outta me. Lurching along like some mutant │
│ offspring of Massive Attack and Merzbow, Electric Third Rail │
│ features a claustrophobic and stomach-churning mix of dark, │
│ punishing sounds that provide a perfect backdrop for the dark │
│ and paranoid lyrics that Octavius stridently spits forth. Guest │
│ appearances at various points from vocalist Autumn Michaliszyn, │
│ guitarist Taron Barefield, and bassist John Wilson (ex-Meat Beat │
│ Manifesto) simply serve to increase the intensity of the gloomy │
│ and glorious cacophony. Listening to this album back to back │
│ with a couple of singles by cLOUDDEAD (if you haven't heard of │
│ them yet, you will soon), it becomes clear that there's some │
│ very, very cool (and very, very fucked-up) stuff happening on │
│ the fringes of the hip-hop underground that you probably won't │
│ be seeing on Rap City anytime soon." │

│ │
│ Note: There was no way to do this album track by track...its │
│ more of a mix than a straight forward album with gaps and │
│ whatnot. And on the cd itself it states, "The final was mix was │
│ left raw as not to dull or over-edit the ideas." For a more │
│ in-depth review of this album...cus believe me...its hard to │
│ describe, visit: │
