run by chris fleming, laws of motion is a label that owes as much
to stevie wonder as derrick may, taking in deodato and scratch
along the way. from its beginnings with the ôcarl craig of west
londonö (modaji) and the latin funk of phil asherÆs back 2 earth,
the label has combined funk, taste and musical house to a degree
that has had the likes king britt, jazzanova and gilles peterson
as well as critics from osaka to new york knocking on their door
for more.
mix of mellow brazilian flavored beats, neo soul influenced jams,
and dubby downtempo grooves. guest vocalists include alice russell
(bah samba, quantic) and nina miranda (smoke city). kaidi tatham,
chris francks and izzi dunn also help out.
"wicked grooves and luxuriant arrangements that seduce and
thrill...elegantly eclectic" -idj
"manages to effortlessly mix gilberto-era brazilian bossa nova
with hip and filthy sounding french women with bengali poetry.
chilled without ever freezingover." -arena
