After a massive first twelve months that saw the label release debut efforts
from some of clublandÆs most exciting names, including Waze & Odyssey, LPZ and
Aashton & Swift, Body Work return with their first release of 2013 and another
incredible debut, SemedoÆs æLove IllusionÆ.
Joining forces in 2012, Semedo have wasted no time putting down roots in East
London, setting up their studio and getting to work. The first fruit of their
labours comes in the shape of æLove IllusionÆ, six and a half minutes of
classic house, that from the its Jamie PrincipleÆesque opening through to its
euphoric vocal and punchy bass has been honed to perfection.
On remix duties we have two of our favourite producers, LondonÆs Capracara
(DFA/Unknown To The Unknown) and Suburban Dance Club, the latest project from
DJ Wool (The Glass/Plant Music). Taking no prisoners Capracara goes in hard
with a jacking remix that sounds like it was forged in Sheffield in the early
nineties, a hardcore assault on the senses that is already doing maximum damage
in the sets of the handful of DJs to have an early copy.
Meanwhile for his Suburban Dance Club remix, DJ Wool goes back to his favourite
analogue machines. Rebuilding the track from scratch he sends it deep into late
night territory and perfectly captures that woozy disorientating moment in the
club where night gives way to day and the only thing to do is get your head
down and keep on dancing through.
