: Contrary to their title, The Somnambulants are anything :
: but sleepy. Energetic songs with catchy pop structures :

: Though they pre-date the first Electroclash festival :
: with their debut release "Fabrication & Productivity" :
: (Clairaudience Collective Recordings, 2000), their :
: single, "Evacuation", will appear on the upcoming :
: "Electroclash 2" compilation (Mogul Electro) due out in :
: Fall 2003 . Beyond the Electroclash sphere, however, :
: the band hopes to prove that electronic bands can :
: achieve longevity through committed artistic integrity. :
: For them, the secret formula is to avoid writing :
: "electronic music," and to write instead great songs :
: that just happen to use electronic instruments. :

: The Somnambulants began with Joseph White. Joseph moved :
: to NY in 1996 to attend film school at NYU's Tisch :
: School of the Arts. Throughout the four-year :
: film-intensive program, his focus on sound design and :
: film scoring sharpened his music writing and recording :
: skills. By 2000, Joseph had turned his energy back on :
: music full time, forming The Somnambulants. :

: Channing Sargent is the second Somnambulant. She is a :
: performance artist with classic piano training. She :
: controls the synthesizer with zeal, stopping only to :
: dance. Her on-stage presence and strong musicianship :
: are a perfect complement to Joseph's front-man :
: presence. Also ex-Tisch/NYU, she graduated from the :
: Experimental Theater Wing in 2000. :

: That same year, Joseph founded The Clairaudience :
: Collective in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The Clairaudience :
: Collective provides a positive space for like minded :
: bands to grow and mature in the sometimes harsh climate :
: of NYC's music scene. Comprised of The Somnambulants, :
: synth-sweethearts Swiss Dot, and electro-punkers Mommy :
: & Daddy, the Collective has become an incubator for :
: up-and-coming Electroclash bands. The Clairaudience :
: Collective self-released The Somnambulants' first :
: album, "Fabrication and Productivity." The recordings :
: include tracks with vocals from Lorraine Lelis (of :
: Mahogany), who continues to provide vocal tracks for :
: Somnambulant recordings on "Evacuation". :
