dXb For many people in the electronic music scene this is dXb
dXb more than a lifetime, but for Michael Abel-Larsen its dXb
dXb the length of his career. A career beginning as a dXb
dXb teenager playing vinyls and tapes in his room, to the dXb
dXb present day where he is head of one of the biggest dXb
dXb labels in the progressive scene, DJing across the dXb
dXb globe as DJ Banel and producing music under his dXb
dXb projects Behind Blue Eyes & KBBE. It all started in dXb
dXb the late 80s when words like acid-house and techno dXb
dXb were starting to buzz in the underground scene of dXb
dXb Copenhagen. This caught the attention of the 15- dXb
dXb year-old Michael, who was captivated by these new, dXb
dXb interesting sounds coming from abroad. Fast forward dXb
dXb to 1994. The trance/goa-trance sound is sweeping dXb
dXb across Europe, and in the core of the scene in dXb
dXb Copenhagen were Rotundum; A large crew of like-minded dXb
dXb individuals organizing some of the most legendary dXb
dXb parties in Denmark. As an offspring from those dXb
dXb parties came the idea of a label, and so Banel and dXb
dXb his friends Emok and Amon started Iboga Records. The dXb
dXb first release came in 1998 with the compilation dXb
dXb "Tabernanthe". A release that included tracks dXb
dXb collected among friends in the scandinavian trance- dXb
dXb scene such as Oryx (later Reefer Decree) and the dXb
dXb project Iboga incl. Banel himself. "Tabernanthe" dXb
dXb became something of a phenomenon, and it became the dXb
dXb first of a string of releases in the coming years dXb
dXb that helped define the new progressive / scandinavian dXb
dXb trance sound. Iboga Records was in the forefront of dXb
dXb this development with acts like Reefer Decree, Beat dXb
dXb Bizarre and Phony Orphants making standout tunes and dXb
dXb Banel and Emok getting booked for parties across the dXb
dXb globe. Banel and Emok also found interesting sounds dXb
dXb outside Scandinavia though. Acts like Antix and FREq dXb
dXb and later Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul and Perfect dXb
dXb Stranger where all signed for Iboga Records and dXb
dXb released seminal albums that pushed the progressive dXb
dXb trance sound further; from early, deep psychedelic dXb
dXb influences to melodic trance-inspired sounds to the dXb
dXb progressive house and techno sounds of later years. dXb
dXb As Banel and Emoks tastes changed, so did the sound dXb
dXb of Iboga Records, and so did the sounds being played dXb
dXb at parties; from Japan and Australia to Europe and dXb
dXb Brazil. In 2004 were the first release from Banels dXb
dXb own musical project Behind Blue Eyes, and the debut dXb
dXb album "Behind Blue Eyes" followed in 2005. Originally dXb
dXb a joint project with RenE Gundel Nielsen (former dXb
dXb member of Beat Bizarre), it is now apart from a solo dXb
dXb project also collaboration between Banel & Simon dXb
dXb Heath (Krusseldorf), called KBBE. Now with 3 full- dXb
dXb length albums, the the sound can best be described as dXb
dXb tribal, hypnotic and with elements from both trance dXb
dXb and techno - much like Banels versatile DJ-sets, dXb
dXb which has brought him to both high-tech clubs as well dXb
dXb as major festivals like Boom, Fusion, Rainbow Serpent dXb
dXb and Ozora. Over the years Banel has been behind many dXb
dXb releases, compiled many compilations and played many dXb
dXb DJ-sets, but this 25-year anniversary compilation is dXb
dXb a special one. A compilation with music which dXb
dXb represents the essence of the time as DJ and label dXb
dXb owner, and reminds us all how liberating it is to dXb
