this london based outfit, led by virtuoso vocalist and songwriter
guida de palma records and performs a repertoire of original
material in their own idiosyncratic style she calls jazzinho.
jazzinho, which could be translated as "sweet little jazz" is a
sophisticated blend of dance rhythms, nu-jazz arrangements,
portuguese traditional instruments, afro-brazilian percussions,
r&b background vocals with soulful and organic bossa melodies. it
is mainly in portuguese, guida's native language, but some of the
lyrics are in english as well.
jurgen bauer and daniel hantigk from ecco.chamber, the prestigious
label distributed by alexander hirschauser's legendary soul
seduction - both based in vienna -, have recently asked guida to
record jazzinho's first album. it is due to be released in
september 2003. in studios and alongside guida, chris franck û da
lata & smoke city û , michele chiavarini û nova fronteira - as
well as neil angilley - down to the bone - worked as joint
producers to ôcookö jazzinhoÆs album. various prestigious
remixers, incuding jonas quant from the gothenburg crew as well as
eddy & dus, have ôclubalizedö a few tracks. prior to launching the
album, another ep will feature more remixes done by some
seriously cool producers. watch this space!.
her own style: brazil, nu-brazil, nu-jazz, electronica soulful &
harmonical music for everyone.
