sum up the state-of-play for darker, atmospheric European
techno in 2013. The first half of the EP includes gloomy
industrial throbbers by Polar Inertia and Saσad vs
Mondkopf with rare, beatless ambient expressions from
Ancient Methods and Shifted. The 2nd half cranks things
up a gear with a brace of hard-nosed techno mutations
taking in the finer complexities of Casual Violence's
serpentine 'Beauty Mode' and the rudimentary loops of
AnD's 'Reinforcement G' beside the grinding bass and
atmospheric attrition of Svreca's 'Linear' and a
shuddering, roiling highlight from Violetshaped. Find
your spot in the shadows and dance like no one is
watching.
