Wenn man in Koeln an Drum'n'Bass denkt, muss man nicht
lange ueberlegen, um auf Basswerk und The Green Man, kurz
TGM, zu kommen. Seit 1997 gibt es das von Heiner Kruse
aka TGM ins Leben gerufene Label Basswerk, und seitdem
gehoert es zum Bekanntesten und Besten, was es in
Deutschland in Sachen Breakbeats gibt. Eine ueberaus
gelungene Werkschau ueber sein Schaffen in den
vergangenen Jahren bietet Heiner Kruse mit dem Album
"Sound Power". In 30 Tracks zeigt die Doppel-CD wie
unterschiedlich die sogenannte Bass Music sein kann.
Schon lange reichen Bezeichnungen wie Jungle, Dubstep
oder Drum'n'Bass in diesem Genre nicht mehr aus.
Ambient-, Jazz-, Soul-, Techno-, Trap- und HipHop-
Einfluesse sind auch bei TGM klar festzustellen und
lassen so die Grenzen immer mehr verschwimmen. Nehmen wir
"Reasonjazz", Easy Listening paart sich hier mit fetten
Streichern. "Information" ist dagegen ganz klar im
Technobereich anzusiedeln. Aber keine Angst, auch
Klassiker wie "Easy", hier in einem neuen -Video Mix-,
oder das duestere -Chainsmoker- gibt es auf "Sound
Power". Bei den ersten Singleauskopplungen -Word, Sound,
Power- feat. Peter Bouncer und -Face the Father- feat.
Demolition Man setzt Herr Kruse auf international
bekannte Vokalisten und fesselnden Tanzstoff. Insgesamt
laesst sich auf jeden Fall sagen, dass dieses Album nicht
nur fuer Anhaenger der ungeraden Bassline ein echter
Leckerbissen ist.
