            Interesting multi-instrumentation project involving a full scale
            20-men strong orchestra, separate string section and vocalists.
            Comprised of mostly California based studio musicians, the
            California Smoker project features a number of skilled artists
            including baritone saxophonists William E Green (Frank Sinatra,
            Ella Fitzgerald), Terry Harrington (Lenny Williams, David Ruffin,
            The Temptations), guitarist Mitch Holder (Dionne Warwick, Lamont
            Dozier, John Klemmer), vocalists Angela Winbush (Rene & Angela),
            and Sherlie Matthews (Steely Dan).

            California Smoker frontman, the project's arranger and conductor
            Bruce Miller, started his career in Detroit as a saxophonist and
            guitarist and as a guitarist he went touring with Paul Anka. Later
            he moved to Los Angeles and started working as a orchestral
            arranger. Miller has done arrangements for a long list of most
            popular soul and R&B artists like The Commodores, The Temptations,
            Rose Royce and The Four Tops as well as artists like Joss Stone
            and Rod Stewart. He has also made a long career arranging and
            composing music for dozens of TV series & Movies including Frasier,
            Becker, Designing Women, Wings and many others.

            "D2D Chapter 1", which was recorded with soundstream direct to
            digital technique and released on white virgin vinyl in August 1978,
            became the only release for California Smoker. Including 
            orchestral interpretations of classic material (originally recorded
            by the likes of Earth Wind & Fire, Chuck Mangione, Stevie Wonder,
            and others), do not miss out on this funky musical ride. But is it
            funk? Jazz? The project surely takes those genres as standpoints,
            but also involves latin rhythms, samba, disco, and classic soul.
