After the success of her Christmas album "Det Hev Ei Rose
Sprunge" (2010) Helene is now back with "Svalbard". The album,
her fourth, contains eleven tracks composed by Sindre Hotvedt.
Helene got a permission to add Norwegian lyrics to B°hren's
and ┼serud's fantastic melody "Svalbardtema" from the
Norwegian movie "Orions belte" (Orion's Belt), and with
Helene's beautiful voice it has become incredibly beautiful.
Also, there was room enough on the album to add a new version
of her classic song "Mitt land" (My land). The nine other
songs are brand new compositions, including the song "Ved
havet" (By the sea).
Svalbard is the largest island in the Spitsbergen archipegalo,
far north in the Arctic Ocean, halfway between Norway and The
North Pole. In Norway, the whole group of islands are usually
called "Svalbard", and it is a part of the Kingdom of Norway.

The movie "Orion's Belt" (1985) has been regarded by many
critics as a paradigm shift in Norwegian movie industry, not
because of it's high artistic standard, but simply because
people liked it, and subsequent popular movies have always
been compared to it. In Norway, people with interest in music
knows the beautiful melody "Svalbard tema" (Svalbard Theme)
from the soundtrack of this movie, and it has become like an
anthem for the inhabitants of Svalbard. Read more:
