│║ Germany is well-known for its heavier side to ║ │
│║ power metal, leaving the ôfluffierö and more ║ │
│║ symphonic driven bands to other various European ║ │
│║ countries. Flying under the radar, yet hailing ║ │
│║ from Germany, is the power metal band Circle of ║ │
│║ Silence. These five guys are standing firm in ║ │
│║ the German tradition of hard-hitting power ║ │
│║ metal. Providing listeners with over 50 minutes ║ │
│║ of riff-driven, gritty power metal, ôThe Rise of ║ │
│║ Resistanceö is bound to earn this band some ║ │
│║ respect from heavy metal fans all over the ║ │
│║ world. ║ │

│║ I couldnÆt think of a better way to kick off ║ │
│║ this album than with the track ôBlood of ║ │
│║ Enemiesö. Immediately demanding attention from ║ │
│║ the listener is the thrash-like recording ║ │
│║ quality to the music. ItÆs nothing but high gain ║ │
│║ and riffs galore! One riff after another, ║ │
│║ ultimately leading to a face melting solo, itÆs ║ │
│║ gripping on to your attention. The music mind ║ │
│║ will have no other choice but to wonder where ║ │
│║ the string work can possibly go from here. ItÆs ║ │
│║ a perfect blend of that hard-hitting style with ║ │
│║ a melodic power metal twist. The vocal layering ║ │
│║ throughout the song is spot on, blending on top ║ │
│║ of driving drums and galloping bass lines, itÆs ║ │
│║ near perfect. Heavier moments of the album, like ║ │
│║ ôAn Oncoming Stormö and ôIn the Absence of Your ║ │
│║ Godö start off like a straight up thrash metal ║ │
│║ anthem. Throughout the verses that true power ║ │
│║ metal hook comes out, and it found again in the ║ │
│║ choruses which are both unbelievably catchy for ║ │
│║ such fast-moving songs. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ ôReborn From Darknessö really showcases the ║ │
│║ great songwriting diversity in the record. ItÆs ║ │
│║ slower tempo, and while still quite heavy, it is ║ │
│║ more groovy than anything on the record. ôThe ║ │
│║ Architect of Immortalityö comes in as a ballad- ║ │
│║ like closing track. ItÆs slow and melodic, ║ │
│║ featuring more hollow vocals and guitar work ║ │
│║ than previously heard. Light in the drums, itÆs ║ │
│║ easy to hear great moving bass lines and ║ │
│║ wonderfully coordinated electric and acoustic ║ │
│║ guitar work under the haunting vocals. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Circle of Silence pulls off the traditional ║ │
│║ power metal style quite well, blending it ║ │
│║ seamlessly with heavier thrash components. It ║ │
│║ makes for a rather different album than what ║ │
│║ power metal fans are used to. While some of the ║ │
│║ songs are slightly repetitive, as the vocal ║ │
│║ style is not nearly as diverse as the music ║ │
│║ itself, ôThe Rise of Resistanceö is a must ║ │
│║ listen for any heavy metal fan. Stretching ║ │
│║ across all corners of the vast sea of genres, ║ │
│║ there is something in this album for everyone. ║ │
