│║ EYEFEAR are a progmetal band from Melbourne ║ │
│║ Australia who started as band in 1991. ║ │
│║ Especially their 1996 demo "Edge Of Existence" ║ │
│║ earned them some attention in the underground ║ │
│║ scene. Now they have a new guitarist (Anthony ║ │
│║ Porchia) and a new singer Jim Georgopoulos (ex- ║ │
│║ Hyperion), presenting their new EP "Dawn ... A ║ │
│║ New Beginning". ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ This is one of these demos which are well ║ │
│║ composed and fresh enough to forget about the ║ │
│║ not so good sound. EYEFEAR play complex ║ │
│║ progmetal far away from boring chlichees. With ║ │
│║ EYEFEAR progmetal is complex and still very ║ │
│║ entertaining. High metal vocals, very good ║ │
│║ compositions between bands like ENCHANT, ║ │
│║ ETERNITY X (but a more heavy as both of them) ║ │
│║ and 80s cult metal bands. EYEFEAR have a great ║ │
│║ talent in finding the balance between catchy ║ │
│║ elements, complex arrangements and the joy of ║ │
│║ playing their instruments. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ If you are bored by DREAM THEATER-clones, then ║ │
│║ you should check out this band from down under. ║ │
│║ The sound and the vocals are not a 100% perfect, ║ │
│║ but here this leads to a cosy trashy atmosphere ║ │
│║ (remember the first FATES WARINING albums? For ║ │
│║ example "No Exit" sounds like a tin can, but we ║ │
│║ all love this album!) and by the way: the ║ │
│║ compositions and the freshness make this EP ║ │
│║ worth 7 points. ║ │
