The band shows us a convicted adoration for ║ │ │║ speed/thrash metal of the eighties, like Jaguar ║ │ │║ and Holocaust used to perform at the times of ║ │ │║ the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. A strong ║ │ │║ trump of Reapers is the inventive guitar-work, ║ │ │║ but that is no wonder with a guitarist like ║ │ │║ Stefano Crivellari who played before in a Steve ║ │ │║ VaiÆs tribute band. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Reapers started as a cover-band in May 2002. ║ │ │║ When the second guitarplayer left the band, it ║ │ │║ was impossible to go on playing these covers and ║ │ │║ the musicians concentrated on writing their own ║ │ │║ songs. This course was proceeded when Stefano ║ │ │║ joined the band as lead guitarist. A previous ║ │ │║ released demo was completed with six new songs ║ │ │║ and this became æMetalnessÆ. In April 2003 ║ │ │║ Reapers was signed by DarkSunRecords. Which led ║ │ │║ to finding æMetalnessÆ in the shops by now. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The voice of singer/rhythm guitarist Luca ║ │ │║ Calegaro sounds rough and slightly hoarse, it ║ │ │║ fits well into the music. The preponderant mid ║ │ │║ temp songs are diverse because of atmospheric ║ │ │║ passages (æPain WarÆ) which contains also a ║ │ │║ kicking guitar spot. It brings up the CD to a ║ │ │║ higher level. The instrumental æCopernical ║ │ │║ ThinkageÆ rocks again in a straight way and ║ │ │║ Stefano is free to let himself go in his beloved ║ │ │║ Steve Vai style, giving the music a progressive ║ │ │║ touch.s ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ As for the intro of æKnights Of The NightÆ, ║ │ │║ they had insolent spying at MetallicaÆs æOneÆ, ║ │ │║ even though the song takes another direction ║ │ │║ soon. The obligate slow is served with æCrying ║ │ │║ SoulÆ. The voice of Luca Calegaro lends itself ║ │ │║ less to sensitive vocals but luckily the ║ │ │║ guitar-work is quiet optimal again.
