  "Pilot Betrayed"

  On 27 December 1991, Scandinavian Airlines 
  Flight 751, a McDonnell Douglas MD-81, 
  crash-landed in Gottr÷ra when both of the 
  engines failed within 2 seconds. 

  Clear ice had been sucked into both, causing 
  internal damage. A system known as Automatic 
  Thrust Restoration (ATR) then increased output
  after the engines had been throttled back to 
  idle in an attempt to save them. The pilots 
  were unaware of the ATR system's existence. 
  
  Incredibly, all on board survived the accident.
