| | Ingredients roll out another Response | |
| | release, fresh of the back of his first. No | |
| | sooner had Response made his individual debut | |
| | on Ingredients, he has followed it up with | |
| | another super 12". | |
| | | |
| | "Surveillance" is a well rounded melodic | |
| | roller. Starting with a simple drum pattern | |
| | and an increasingly prominent pad, it | |
| | progressively builds up into the tune itself. | |
| | The subtle mid range stabs add a bit of punch | |
| | before the female vocal intercedes briefly, | |
| | before fading out as the bassline kicks in. | |
| | Subtle and unobtrusive, and yet with a | |
| | distinct edge to it, "Surveillance" is | |
| | simplistic and subtle in its delivery. The | |
| | more the track goes on, the more the little | |
| | elements come into play. The resurfacing of | |
| | the pads, and more cleverly worked in ambient | |
| | parts really create a lovely piece of music | |
| | that is certain to grow on the listener which | |
| | every subsequent listen. | |
| | | |
| | "One Nation" depicts a contrast between light | |
| | and dark. The introduction is all ambiance | |
| | and soft soundscaping. Chimes and whispers | |
| | prevail over spacious and sparse kicks and | |
| | snares. This mellow start is abruptly ended | |
| | by the introduction of the "One Nation" | |
| | vocal, which precedes a massive, menacing | |
| | bassline, that accompanies the suddenly far | |
| | snappier drum work, to create a head nodding | |
| | affair that is fast becoming symbolic of | |
| | Response's productions. | |
