New Jersey In The Early Nineties. His First Releases Combined His
Raw, Prince-Like Vocals With The Kind Of Hypnotic House Grooves He
Spent His Saturday Nights Locked Down To At Tony Humphries Legendary
Zanzibar Club. He Soon Came To The Attention Of Azuli Records In The
Uk Who Began Releasing Selected Singles From The Blackmale Catalogue.
During That Time, Roman Had Club Hits With Songs Like 'ministry Of
Love', 'let Me Show You Love' And 'falling From Grace'. His
Unmistakable Vocals And Twisted Production Touch Had Djs Falling Over
Themselves For His Releases And Dancefloors Heaving To His Sound. His
Relationship With Azuli Ended In 1995 With A Compilation 'romanworld'
That Brought All The Singles Together In A Double Album Release.
Since Then Roman Has Had Sporadic Releases On Blackmale Offering More
Club-Orientated Versions Of His Work One Of Which Was Picked Up By
Thomas Bangalter For Release On His Massive Roul╔ Imprint. 'hold On'
Was One Of Pete Tong's Essential New Tunes In 1999 And Went On To
Sell Over 40,000 Copies. The Glasgow Underground Album 'r.Hide In
Plain Site' (Released March 2000) Represents His First Mainline Solo
Work Since 'romanworld'.
In Addition To His Solo Work, Roman Has Continually Worked With Other
Vocalists And Occasionally Producers. He Has Written And Produced
Songs For Vocalists Such As Eve Angel, Quiana Tara And Naida As Well
As Releasing Projects On Us Labels Like Downtown 161, Vinylmania And
83 West And European Labels Like Defender, Chord 44 And Glasgow
Underground. His Productions Have Been Picked Up On By Djs Around The
World For Their Compilations. His Latest Projects With New Jersey
Singer Naida Was Featured On Daft Punk's Recent Respect Compilation
That Has So Far Sold Over 80,000 Copies Worldwide.
Romanthony Currently Still Owns And Operates World Records, A Label
He Uses For Releasing Collaborative Projects. His Blackmale Records
Is Now Manufactured And Distributed By Glasgow Underground.
As Well As Further Establishing Himself As An Artist, The Past Year
