       From the archives - first time in digital remastered quality:
       Musical collaborations with Madlib usually do not involve studio time
       with the producer,
       long conversations, or any discussion at all. More than likely, they take
       place with
       little said, a mutual understanding, and a rapper or singer digging
       through Madlib's
       recent beat collection. It's a kind of beat curation.
       Dudley Perkins has known Madlib longer than most collaborators, and
       proved himself one of
       the most insightful curators of Madlib beats when he put together his
       album A Lil' Light.
       As MC "Declaime," Dudley worked with Madlib several times, but this
       project under his birth
       name started with a single song, "Flowers," recorded one late night in
       1999 and in released
       on a 7-inch single in 2001. We asked Dudley & Madlib for more of this
       strange soul music,
       and A Lil' Light was worked out over the next few months, and released in
       2002. Here are
       the original instrumentals.
