│║ Now, now, donÆt be shy! Admit it: when you read ║ │
│║ the bandÆs name you thought ôWTF!?ö. Nobody can ║ │
│║ blame you as everybody probably thought the ║ │

│║ But beyond the weird name, these Swedes offer us ║ │
│║ an infectious melodic Hard-Rock with some Pop- ║ │
│║ Metal that does have its moments of Firehouse, ║ │
│║ Krokus, Bon Jovi, a bit of Skid Row or ║ │
│║ Whitesnake during their golden days. Sometimes ║ │
│║ their Swedish lineage even carries some melodies ║ │
│║ reminiscent of ABBA, and who doesnÆt love ABBA? ║ │
│║ (DonÆt answer thatà). ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ For those imagining what IÆm talking about and ║ │
│║ not hating it, The Poodles who come up in 2006 ║ │
│║ with the well received ôMetal Will Stand Tallö ║ │
│║ to then get signed to AFM Records and release ║ │
│║ this ôSweet Tradeö, have to offer a collection ║ │
│║ of songs with infectious chorus with tight ║ │
│║ guitars and a drumming style that imposes a very ║ │
│║ danceable rhythm to make contaminating you ║ │
│║ easier. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Pontos Norgren does an efficient work in the ║ │
│║ guitar while Jakob Samuel (The Ring) has ║ │
│║ charisma in his voice that he uses to good ║ │
│║ effect in the well achieved vocal melodies the ║ │
│║ album carries, such as in ôFlesh And Bloodö ║ │
│║ while the vocal layers in ôStreets Of Fireö show ║ │
│║ well the ABBA sound, although with NorgrenÆs ║ │
│║ relentless riffing to give it strength. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Then comes the extraordinary ôSeven Seasö, ║ │
│║ standard bearer for the album and at the Swedish ║ │
│║ Tops since May. That wonÆt be surprising once ║ │
│║ you realize youÆre desperately trying to ║ │
│║ accompany JakobÆs vocal lines who with this ║ │
│║ performance is making me miss The Ring. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Energetic and uplifting, this ßlbum also has ║ │
│║ those moments where guitars get stronger and the ║ │
│║ bass makes the floor vibrate as is the case of ║ │
│║ ôThunderballö, the rocking anthems as ôReach The ║ │
│║ Skyö, or power ballads that could show up in any ║ │
│║ compilation for repressed rockers such as ôWe ║ │
│║ Are Aloneö or ôShineö, all of them songs that ║ │
│║ once you hear them, youÆll memorize them. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ In its whole, ôSweet Tradeö is not really ║ │
│║ original and probably wonÆt become a classic, ║ │
│║ but it brings to memory all that was ever good ║ │
│║ about Hard-Rock in the 80Æs and early 90Æs. For ║ │
│║ those who loved ôMetal Will Stand Tallö, there ║ │
│║ isnÆt a single doubt: youÆll love ôSweet Tradeö. ║ │
│║ For all others, lovers of Melodic Metal, Hard- ║ │
│║ Rock or even Power Metal, donÆt lose it! If ║ │
│║ these poodles want to conquer the market ║ │
│║ available to this kind of Hard-Rock, this might ║ │
│║ just be the album to do it! ║ │
