"Commemoration" was compiled from various tracks produced between
1998 and 2003. It contains compilation contributions, rare singles
releases und unreleased mixes.

"Commemoration" ist eine Zusammenstellung von vereinzelten Tracks aus den
Jahren 1998 bis 2003. Es lassen sich also alle Facetten der musikalischen
Entwicklung von DerniΘre VolontΘ nachvollziehen, von atmophΣrischen
Ambientracks ⁿber elegische Klavierpassagen bis hin zu pathetischen Pop
songs. Dabei hat sich Geoffroy D.s Stimme immer weicher und harmonischer
entwickelt, was das militΣrische Element in letzter Zeit oft zugunsten der
Pop-Geste in den Hintergrund treten lΣsst.
Die beiden CDs versammeln also Compilationtracks, seltene Singles und
bislang unver÷ffentlichte Versionen, wobei vor allem die beiden Hau
Ruck-7"es (CD 1 2-5, CD 2 2-4) sehr positiv auffallen und als
abwechslungsreiche Miniaturen bestehen. "Ultime Soupir" (CD 1, 8) baut
dagegen eine extrem bedrohliche AtmosphΣre auf und entstammt der
weitgehend ⁿbersehenen Compilation "La Liste Noire" (1998).
Abwechslunsgreicher von den Sounds her ist CD 2, wo auch Harmonium und
mittelalterliche Elemente zum Tragen kommen.
Wer mit der Musik dieser Gruppe noch nicht allzu vertraut ist, wird mit
Sicherheit gefallen daran finden, den bereits gewonnenen Fans wird sie
vermutlich etwas konzeptlos erscheinen, was in der Natur der Zusammen-
stellung liegt. Zugleich nutzen sich die extrem eingΣngigen Passagen beim
mehrmaligen H÷ren etwas ab, lassen die Brⁿche vermissen. So hΣlt man mit
"CommΘmoration" also zugleich ein typisches Beispiel fⁿr den Military
Pop in HΣnden wie auch einen Beleg fⁿr die kreativen Grenzen dieses
Konzepts. Man kann gespannt sein, in welche Richtung sich eine genuine
neue Ver÷ffentlichung der Band bewegen wird.
