| | 2000 was a good year for Skunkrock and of | |
| | course also for Alley cat and the rest of | |
| | the posse. And in the new year it all looks | |
| | like they will continue the progress and | |
| | keep their work on a constantly high level. | |
| | At the latest by the end of 2001 they | |
| | should not only be 'one to watch' but a | |
| | strong part of the scene. After Kabuki & | |
| | Savine's 'Intastate' there is now this nice | |
| | mix-cd. On 'No Formalities' Alley Cat spins | |
| | herself through the label's back catalogue | |
| | and adds a few specials with an bonus track | |
| | by Q-Project and a yet unreleased one by | |
| | her and Danny Savine. The mix is very tight | |
| | and makes No Formailties the perfect entry | |
| | to the treasure chamber of Skunkrock. It is | |
| | atmospherically very layed and has the | |
| | perfect balance between tear out and | |

| | Alley cat drops 'Iodine' as a nice intro | |
| | tune. A slowly and relaxed developing track | |
| | produced by Tha Countamen and herself. | |
| | Quickly her good mix fades to Dom & Rolands | |
| | genious terror remix of Daniel Savine's | |
| | 'This Time'. Triadd's 'Hydroxy' remix by | |
| | Digital & Spirit pulls the listener into | |
| | the deep and dark fields of the organised | |
| | machine terror. With Kabuki & Savine's | |
| | 'Backup' then the energy changes into a | |
| | different direction. Calm, straight breaks | |
| | and basslines provide a deep mood. This | |
| | gets worked out continously. Further tunes | |
| | from UFO!, Konflict, Klute and Q-Project | |
| | let the mix become harder again and a deep | |
| | potential without being too hammering. | |
| | Altogether Alley Cat mixes about one hour | |
| | fluently through those twelve tracks that | |
| | have so far only been released on Skunkrock.| |

| | The past two years Skunkrock has become a | |
| | name in the hectic and fast changing world | |
| | of drum'n'bass. Now, at the beginning of | |
| | 2001, 'No Formalities' brings us a | |
| | compilation of some excellent drum'n'bass | |
| | stuff that already has been releases on | |
| | vinyl during the past period. The finest | |
| | thing about Skunkrock is that it is | |
| | collaboration between people who were and | |
| | are active in the German, English and | |
| | American musical underground. Hence this cd | |
| | breathes an international sphere with some | |
| | very diverse drum'n'bass mixed together by | |
| | Alicia Williams who is, as Alley Cat, also | |
| | present with three tracks (together with Da | |
| | countamen and Savine). Although Dom & | |
| | Roland, Digital. Konflict and Klute come up | |
| | with some great remixes of Skunrock | |
| | material, Kabuki & Savine are responsible | |
| | for the best tracks. Their 'Intastate' is | |
| | sublime with open strings, great | |
| | melody-line and deep bass. Sounds like the | |
| | best Bukem-material. Completely over the | |
| | top is the Konflict remix of UFO!'s | |
| | 'Personal Blackmail'. Konlict turns this | |
| | techstepper into a hectic acid-like drum'n | |
| | 'bass killer. The other Skunkrock stuff by | |
| | Tha Countamen, Alley Cat, Triadd, Daniel | |
| | Savine and Q-Project is also serious | |
| | dancefloor stuff. Let's hope 'No | |
| | Formalities' only gives us a compilation of | |
| | the first period of Skunkrock Productions | |
| | releases. | |
