│║ LAST EMPIRE, their self titled debut album. ║ │

│║ prematurely stuff the band into the Truelala ║ │
│║ Metal corner, but wrong thinking. The band plays ║ │
│║ progressive US Power Metal as we got it in this ║ │
│║ quality only in the 80s. Best Prog Metal from ║ │
│║ the 80s? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, youÆve read ║ │
│║ correctly. Even though I donÆt really like FATES ║ │
│║ WARNING and HELSTAR too much, LAST EMPIRE remind ║ │
│║ me exactly of them. And I love it. ║ │

│║ Dig through your record collection and unearth ║ │
│║ forgotten jewels such as LIEGE LORDÆs ôFreedomÆs ║ │
│║ Riseô, SAVATAGEÆs ôPower Of The Nightô, ║ │
│║ GRIFFINÆs ôFlight Of The Griffinô, DEADLY ║ │
│║ BLESSINGÆs ôAscend From The Cauldronô or DAMIEN ║ │

│║ To describe the songs even remotely is ║ │
│║ impossible to me as they are too layered, too ║ │
│║ big and complex, for sure it is incredible to ║ │
│║ see, how this band plays itself into a true ║ │
│║ frenzy, but never forgets what makes the song, ║ │
│║ the melody itself. Even though the hymns might ║ │
│║ seem recalcitrant and at times even bristly, ║ │
│║ they all ignite like a bomb after a while. The ║ │
│║ catchiest one most probably is ôWings Of ║ │
│║ Dragonsö. ║ │

│║ I can hardly put it into words how this album ║ │
│║ has impressed me, the logical consequence is the ║ │
│║ perfect rating. ║ │
