│ │
│ Kajmere Sound Distribution is proud to help release "April │
│ Showers," the second twelve inch single from L. ScatterBrain of │
│ the Los Angeles-based hip hop group Numerous Cat. │
│ │
│ The A side, "April Showers," sets a death-march like beat │
│ against French accordions, talon-sharp string parts and a muted │
│ thumping bass as L. ScatterBrain addresses issues such as US │
│ government policy, the war on the Third World, and the assault │
│ on the working class. │
│ │
│ The B-side, "Waltzin'," features a funky, uptempo, happy jazz │
│ piano loop punctuated by a heavy kick drum and a horn line that │
│ weaves in and out of the verses. Here L. Scatter's attitude │
│ waxes on the cutthroat music industry pool he's been swimming in │
│ for over a decade; "...industry parties, in's where I'm │
│ sneaking/where secrets are leaking, fake smiles with a │
│ greeting..." │
│ │
│ Also on the B-side is "Word Search," with L. Scatter's partner │
│ in rhyme Malcolm Overflow. The track is a very uptempo, B-Boy │
│ friendly drum track laced with a busy flute that morphs through │
│ the song like a high-speed lava lamp. ScatterBrain and OverFlow │
│ kick verses that share the experience of searching for the words │
│ and metaphors needed to express deeper thought. │
│ │
│ "Word Search" will only be available on this 12 inch. "April │
│ Showers" and "Waltzin'" are from the forthcoming L. ScatterBrain │
│ LP "Dr. Bombrain." All scratches on the record were performed by │
│ DJ Mino from Numerous Cat. │
│ │
│ The record also includes instrumentals of all three songs. │
