"The Crystal Caravan", you'd just as well believe that they
were around in the late 60s. This is Psychedelic Rock done
the true old-school way, and the band damn well knows it.
With singer RG sounding a little like Jim Morrison, and the
inclusion of a Hammond organ, it's no surprise that this band
was formed 40 years too late. However, it's never too late
for excellent music, and though THE CRYSTAL CARAVAN mainly
panders to the nostalgic rock fans, their energy and
songwriting skills are good enough to branch out of their
niche. With fear of betraying my lack of insight to the world
of Psychedelic Rock, there are definitely traces of DEEP
PURPLE and THE 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS to be heard in their
music, with a slight touch of Stoner Rock on top. For the
metalheads reading this, a better point of reference might be
found in the direction of SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, as especially
the energetic singer and guitar solos reminds me of this
other Swedish group.
