│║ Aaah YES! YES! YES! Here are our true metal ║ │
│║ brother from Koblenz again. You know, there are ║ │
│║ albums you can talk a lot about, but anything ║ │
│║ you say would be superfluous anyway. Just like ║ │
│║ this review is totally superfluous, because if ║ │
│║ you like pure, honest, old-school heavy metal ║ │
│║ then you will already pre-order this record, ║ │
│║ wait until the 21st, and then go crazy and admit ║ │
│║ to another addiction. Are we clear? Good! Not ║ │
│║ convinced yet? Then please proceed, unless youre ║ │
│║ looking for originality, innovation or something ║ │
│║ modern, because then you can get lost ║ │
│║ immediately. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Goddamn, what a great band Metal Inquisitor is ║ │
│║ really. The debut The Apparition (2002) from ║ │
│║ these Germans was a very promising old-school ║ │
│║ heavy metal/rock n roll record, and the band ║ │
│║ truly shined on stage. The second long player, ║ │
│║ Doomsday For The Heretic (2005), however was ║ │
│║ from a much higher calibre. The band showed ║ │
│║ progress on all fronts and delivered an album ║ │
│║ that many old-school bands should envy. The ║ │
│║ third record, Unconditional Absolution, was of ║ │
│║ the same high quality, although it couldnt match ║ │
│║ its predecessor entirely in my opinion. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Well now, with their fourth long player, Ultima ║ │
│║ Ratio Regis, Metal Inquisitor has delivered its ║ │
│║ strongest effort to date, without straying even ║ │
│║ an inch from their original true metal path. ║ │
│║ Immediately with the opening track, Confession ║ │
│║ Saves Blood, the neck muscles start making ║ │
│║ overtime and I start ravishing my air guitar ║ │
│║ mercilessly. Staying still is simply impossible ║ │
│║ and you really have to watch out for a whiplash! ║ │
│║ Im already sweating and the band immediately ║ │
│║ continues with the Priest-like crusher Burn Them ║ │
│║ All and the typical Running Wild-anthem Call The ║ │
│║ Banners. My gooood, and we still have seven more ║ │
│║ tracks to go, that all have the same impact. ║ │
│║ This is a true heavy metal fest. All the best ║ │
│║ that 80s heavy and speed metal had to offer are ║ │
│║ brought together and fired mercilessly for 45 ║ │
│║ minutes straight. It is impossible for me to ║ │
│║ name one, or a few highlights, because this ║ │
│║ little masterpiece contains Only of highlights. ║ │
│║ Okay, I must say that along with the ║ │
│║ aforementioned tracks, the Priest-like pounder ║ │
│║ Black Desert Demon, the beautiful Accept-touched ║ │
│║ Servant Of State and the obviously Black ║ │
│║ Sabbath-influenced disclosure Second Peace Of ║ │
│║ Thorn are the least to say conspicuous. Pfff, Im ║ │
│║ exhausted! ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Metal Inquisitor is simply one of those bands ║ │
│║ from whom you can hear that theyre real and the ║ │
│║ music comes straight from the heart. The whole ║ │
│║ is again delivered with full conviction and ║ │
│║ audible enthusiasm, and the love for real heavy ║ │
│║ metal is undeniable. How else is it possible ║ │
│║ that every riff, every solo, every vocal line ║ │
│║ and every chorus strikes you time after time, ║ │
│║ and that you still desire for more after 45 ║ │
│║ minutes? The beauty about it all is also the ║ │
│║ fact that the music doesnt sound dated ║ │
│║ whatsoever, which partly is due to the great ║ │
│║ production that makes the album blast almost ║ │
│║ literally. This is heavy metal as heavy metal ║ │
│║ should be and an absolute must for every fan of ║ │
│║ the genre. ║ │
