            Designated by many as the father of British neo-soul (though his
            impact extends over to US shores as well),
            singer/songwriter/producer Omar began as one of the UK's most
            promising R&B hopefuls with his early-90s international hit "There's
            Nothing Like This". However, unintentionally avoiding pop stardom,
            he chose never to compromise his artistic credibility, and because
            of that, people like India.Arie, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Gilles
            Peterson, and his biggest idol, Stevie Wonder, have all endorsed him
            as personal fans (with the prior three naming him as an influence).
            Although he gets thrown into the R&B category, Omar has no real
            definitive boundaries. In interesting new ways with each album, he
            has molded soul and urban music to fit his wide variety of
            influences, including ragga, hip-hop, funk, jazz-pop, rock, and
            Latin/Caribbean dance. Despite the lack of chart success, his
            original techniques have garnered him a strong legion of followers
            in the UK and a devoted fan base in diverse regions across the
            world..

            "Best By Far", Omar's fifth album, trailed "This Is Not A Love Song"
            by four years and duly pleased the majority of his fan base by
            merely existing. It's another eclectic set that dips into a number
            of styles of the time - flashes of garage, broken beat,
            club-oriented soul-pop, and easy listening are present, but it's an
            Omar album through and though, just as much as any of its
            predecessors. There are a few moments when the album falters in its
            lack of focus, as if Omar is trying to make up for lost time by
            throwing everything into the pot, but at least 30 minutes here stand
            up well next to his previous best work.

            Note: The original album release featured Erykah Badu on guest
            vocals on William DeVaughn's "Be Thankful For What You've Got", so
            does this promo from 2000 (the re-issue had Angie Stone but the
