"10,000 Watts.." is the debut short from fresh Italian gothic
hopefuls, Dope Stars Inc; fusing the distant genres of hard
rock/metal with techno and EBM (electronic body music) influences.
In the album's title track and opener, mechanical lyrics are spat
out as the Dope Stars blow a fuse with their mind numbing power,
pace and electronic groove. The spirit and pure eclectic thrill is
kept alive through 5 songs, peaking with the brilliant "Self
Destructive Corp.", only to nose-dive into the less feisty
"Generation Plastic", proving that Dope Stars Inc are as thoughtful
as they are relentless.
The title track appears again as the closing track with it's XP8
remix, giving the song a more spacious feel. Unfortunately all the
good parts have been taken out, leaving the foundation structures of
the song and the vocals with a jazzed up techno/dance layer
programmed over the top.
"10,000 Watts.." is a very promising start from Dope Stars Inc with
potential to appeal to fans of several different genres.. rock,
metal, goth, techno. Best of all, you can download it all from
dopestarsinc.com for free. You'll either love this or hate it, I
pity you if it's the later.
