│ By it's title you'll realise the concept of this mini album. ││
│ Three commissions of work from Mira Calix aka Chantal ││
│ Passamonte. The first commission came from the MusΘum ││
│ D'Histoire Nuturelle in Geneva, Switzerland back in ││
│ September 2002. 'Nuna', originally a thirty minute piece ││
│ (edited down to thirteen minutes here) is a minimal sampled ││
│ orchestral piece featuring an array of insect noise, amongst ││
│ lush string sweeps. This piece of music seems to hang in the ││
│ air for an eternity - music as reflective and beautiful as ││
│ it's cold and dark. From March 2003 is a version of 'Nuna' ││
│ featuring the London Sinfonietta, leftfield classical ││
│ movements with subtle electronic processing of live insect ││
│ shufflings - a successful experiment recorded for the Ether ││
│ festival. Finally from April 2004 is 'Le Jardin De ││
│ Barbican', a twelve minute suite of warm melodies, sampled ││
│ classical instruments, bird noises, unintrusive clicks and ││
│ whirs plus sound bleeps from an unknown space - wonderful ││
│ music. Possibly Mira Calix's finest work to date. Warmly ││
│ recommended. ││
