│ After listening to Hardcore in his mid teens, Alex │
│ started to get into clubbing and became more │
│ interested in Trance. Going to Gatecrasher, Lotherton │
│ Hall got him hooked and he flew out to Ibiza that │
│ Summer to be amazed by Sasha and Digweed at Space. On │
│ his return he bought as many of their mixes as he │
│ could find,and from there he became more and more │
│ interested in the progressive house and breaks which │
│ he listens to today. │
│ │
│ Having bought his first pair of decks at University it │
│ was a review in a magazine by James Holden indicating │
│ he made all his music on the computer without hardware │
│ that got Alex interested in the idea of production. │
│ Once he had finished his computer animation course in │
│ 2003 he bough Propellerheads Reason 2.5 and began to │
│ lock himself away in his room for hours on end trying │
│ to get his head around the complex beats which have │
│ become a trademark of his Orchid productions. │
│ │
│ Within a matter of weeks Chris Sterio's Gravitation │
│ records had become his first signing with a tune │
│ called Illegal Alien, and his laidback atmospheric │
│ breaks were starting to appear in DJs charts. With │
│ influences from melodic producers like James Holden, │
│ Yunus and Luke Chable, as well as Spanish House │
│ artists like Wally Lopez & Dr Kucho and Chus & │
│ Cellabos with their meticulously programmed │
│ percussion, Alex has also been influenced by techno │
│ DJs at Atomic Jam. Future releases are planned for │
│ Gravitation, Silver Planet, Screen (Italy) and Hope │
│ Recordings, who he is now signed to. │
