│║ To say much about Michael Schenker almost ║ │
│║ borders on a waste of words, but especially for ║ │
│║ the newcomers among you, here a short wrap of ║ │
│║ why the guy maybe is not a full legend, but ║ │
│║ still stands damn high up: ║ │
│║ 1970 he debuted in the scene with the SCORPIONS ║ │
│║ (his brother Rudolf still plays there), 1973 he ║ │
│║ switched to UFO, just to found his own band in ║ │
│║ 1979, the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, better known ║ │
│║ as MSG. After two years he took a time out and ║ │
│║ returned with singer Robin McAuley and the ║ │
│║ MCAULEY SCHENKER GROUP. After three more albums ║ │
│║ followed CONTRABAND, once more MCAULEY SCHENKER ║ │
│║ GROUP, again UFO and finally MSG came back, ║ │
│║ together with a few solo albums (so not as MSG, ║ │
│║ but "just" Michael Schenker). ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Well, and now "Arachnophobiac" has arrived, with ║ │
│║ Chris Logan, Jeremy Colson and Stu Hamm in the ║ │
│║ line up and with this album Michael is fully in ║ │
│║ the tradition of his own albums, powerful, ║ │
│║ classical Hard Rock with the Schenker typical ║ │
│║ melodic guitar play. Now that, of course, does ║ │
│║ not say much about the quality of the contained ║ │
│║ compositions and those are just as classy as ║ │
│║ they are classix, here you obviously see the ║ │
│║ loooong experience he has, because he does not ║ │
│║ need any frills or exaggerated solo passages to ║ │
│║ leave his very own imprint on the songs, he just ║ │
│║ convinces through the songwriting itself. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The songs just have soul, something that you ║ │
│║ unfortunately do not find often anymore, the ║ │
│║ opening duo "Evermore" and "Illusion" are very ║ │
│║ fine examples for that. Here it quickly become ║ │
│║ evident, too that Logan's slightly rougher and ║ │
│║ deeper voice fits the compositions very well and ║ │
│║ lends them even more character. And it would not ║ │
│║ be Michael Schenker, if he would not keep up ║ │
│║ this high level of quality on the following ║ │
│║ songs as well, but that well varied within the ║ │
│║ borders of the genre that you do not have to ║ │
│║ fear to get a uniformed mass of songs, examples ║ │
│║ for those songs would be "Weathervane" or also ║ │
│║ "Break The Circle". ║ │

│║ The name MSG in the year 2003 still stands for ║ │
│║ quality and if you like traditional Rock in a ║ │
│║ modern sound, then you should put ║ │
│║ "Arachnophobiac" on your list of check out ║ │
