Its that time of the year agian, Defqon 1. Almost 60 hours
of hardstyle and hardcore music being broadcasted for the
world to hear.
This READNFO is to show that Sound of Bass, SOB, needs to
stop lieing. We appreciate the hard work they are putting
in to recording, cutting, and packaging these fine releases.
And I agree, Kutski needs to stfu. Their so called DAB
releases are not from a DAB signal, or being recorded from
a DAB receiver. Their releasese are from an internet stream
and should be tagged as such. It is our belief that SOB is
capturing the internet stream from q-dance, and are
proceeding to label it as DAB.
First, if you check out the q-dance website,
tinyurl.com/lmknaku they do not produce a DAB signal. They
do broadcast a FM signal, which can be recieved up to 30km
outside of the Biddinghuizen, Holland area. We still do not
believe they are recording the fm signal. If they were, why
not just tag as FM.
Second, to help further prove that SOB releases are from
Q-dance's shoutcast stream we ripped the same stream using
streamripper and we are trying to cut this release as close
to the SOB release. This comparison is with Defqon_One_
Weekend_Festival_2014-(Survival_Of_The_Fittest)_-_Wildstylez
-DAB-27-06-2014-SOB. The first apperant difference will be
seen as our release is 4 seconds longer than the SOB release
so ofcourse our file is slightly larger than the SOB release.
After the the length difference, these 2 releases start to
look very similar.
In proof Pic 1, both of the releases have a cut off at 16khz.
As seen with low quality mp3 streams, such as the q-dance
stream being at 128kbps, there is low frenquency available.
It should be easy to see that their recording came from the
Q-dance stream.
In proof pic 2, after passing the wave through lame, we can
see both releases have a similar overall bitrate. We believe
that if SOB used a source that was not the internet stream,
then achieving the same overall bitrate should not of been
this easy to achieve.
In proof pic 3, we used encspot to get an idea of the bitrate
distribution. By now, im seeing to many similarities here.
Yes the ditrobution is not exactly the same, but wow pretty
damn close here to not appear that SOB source is the internet
stream.
Lastly, this comparison has been made for the wildstylez
mix. Although, this belief that SOB is lieing and tagging as
DAB when the source is actually the internet stream applies to
all currently released defqon 1 releases from 2014, and if SOB
continues to tag as DAB, then all future defqon 1 releases
for the 2014 party.
We applaud SOB for their work agian. The time it is taking to
cut up and package these releases is time consuming. We do not
want SOB to stop preing these defqon 1 releases. We want
SOB to package these releases correctly and tag them as
STREAM, as they should be.
