│║ I know this album has been released a while ago, ║ │
│║ but after several reminders, we only got a promo ║ │
│║ copy last week. In comparison with Gary John ║ │
│║ BardenÆs somewhat strange solo album (full of ║ │
│║ MSG covers), this new Statetrooper album is so ║ │
│║ much better. It follows hot on the heels of last ║ │
│║ yearÆs re-issue of their debut album (from ║ │
│║ 1987), which prompted the band to reform. Gary ║ │
│║ Barden, Bruce Bisland and Jeff Summers now form ║ │
│║ the backbone of the band and they are joined by ║ │
│║ Martin Mikkels on guitars and special guest Jeff ║ │
│║ Brown on bass. The song material is strong, as ║ │
│║ well as the performances and the production, ║ │
│║ courtesy of Michael Voss. If youÆre wondering ║ │
│║ why the album is called ôThe Callingö, hereÆs an ║ │
│║ answer from Jeff Summers himself: ôWe all ║ │
│║ realised that there was something missing in our ║ │
│║ lives à and it was the band. We all felt the ║ │
│║ calling to return to the band and release the ║ │
│║ songs that have been clamouring to get out for ║ │
│║ all these years!ö If you like ultra-melodic ║ │
│║ tracks characterized by excellent lead and ║ │
