Well here we areà the most logical extension of the whole
ragga-jungle/breakcore pisstake/revival. This is even more retarded and
irreverent than Kid606Æs most smirky material. It almost sounds like the
reducing of all jungle, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, gabber, dance, rave,
and even the entire concept of sample-based music, into stereotypes. I
feel like I shouldnÆt be enjoying this at all. But dammit, I do! This
album is hilarious.
IÆm just going to describe a few of the songs on the album and you make
yr own decisions about them. ôShut Upö is a Knifehandchop-ish
gabber/electro track sampling some guy telling his dog to shut the fuck
up. Tracks 5 and 6 are respectively titled ôThereÆs No Business Like
PropaÆ Rungleclotted Mashup Bizznizzö and ôUK Swampcore Sucks In
Comparison Techstep New Wave Psy-Jungleö. The ôatmosphericö track (like
EnduserÆs songs that sample Enya or the Cocteau Twins) is called ôDis
Dancehall Ting Is Better Than That T.V. Ting Tonyö. ThereÆs a
ragga-jungle remix of ôDay-Oö by Harry Belafonte. Also sampled various
places are Rage Against The Machine, Aerosmith, the Ramones, HandelÆs
ôMessiahö, the British national anthem, and Big Ben.
Yes sir, this album is ridiculous. And offensive. ItÆs also extremely
well-produced, intricate, sophisticated, and hysterical. If you want
authenticism, youÆll hate this album. If you hate Kid606 and Tigerbeat6
and think theyÆre ruining music, youÆll hate this album. If you have
good taste in music, youÆll hate this album. In fact, IÆm ashamed that I
love this album. I should just listen to good music like everyone else.
ThatÆs it, IÆm gonna quit listening to stupid electronic music and buy
everything Elvis Costello ever did, so I can be more respectable. Then
people will like me more!
