If this is your first time experiencing Gut Nose, prepare for the following: furtive
anxiety, jaundiced eyes, a shortness of breath and an over-racked nervous system. The
New York born producer has concocted a blunted and dilapidated strain of house music
that puts biters to shame with his debut 12" -Vicetopia- for Styles Upon Styles.
Influenced by his life in a windowless studio (from which he was recently booted due
to rent hikes) and composed entirely of battered wax and living tech,
Vicetopiacrumbles and thrives under an asphalt-infused haze. This is the score for
mutant, cannibalistic pigeons struggling to escape a radioactive wasteland of
skeletal brownstones and seething subway tunnels. Vicetopia doesn't give a fuck about
your soundsystem, snapbacks, or overpriced parties. Vicetopiais a shaman of a species
left to survive after the carnage has passed, leaving scores of wack producers to
ferment in techno's vast and unforgiving graveyard.
This is the first salvo from Gut Nose. The second will come in extended form this
summer.
