│ Blue Room take a spliff-break from the pounding psychedelics as they │
│ enter what they describe in their press release as their 'second chapter │
│ of sound' with this nine-track compilation of well-produced │
│ breakbeat-fuelled energy. You can tell that many of the producers here │
│ have been submerged in the trancy side of the techno scene, yet the │
│ overall result is an pleasantly innovative take on breaks, beats and │
│ omnipresent bass that should do the label no harm at all. Some of the │
│ noises that go 'boooooooar' and 'pezooooow' get a bit irritating now and │
│ then, as do the tribal vocal snatches and sci-fi samples. And while I'm │
│ at it I haven't been able to get my head around the use of blaring │
│ sirens ever since the big beat boom of the mid-Nineties. But personal │
│ gripes aside, there's plenty of sturdy rhythms and cheeky edits to take │
│ the likes of Eat Static and Acid Rockers (formerly Hippies With Altitude │
│ on Harthouse) bouncing into the twenty-first century. │

│ As time goes by, the world matures. PsyCZ has matured and the scene has │
│ matured. PsyCZ has been releasing MP3 in VBR (using --r3mix with LAME │
│ 3.89, making it archival quality enough even from today's view) since │
│ end of 2001, and was met with skepticism. As time went by, more and more │
│ groups realised that VBR is superiur to CBR 192. Finally, now in 2004, │
│ VBR is allowed by the scene. │
