enrico riva lives in amsterdam and is one of the founders of the
"lounge" sound. his "transatlantik lounging" album (june 1999) was
the first ever lounge only compilation in the neths .. part 4 is
released in april 2001.

lounge actually is a mixture of various styles like, breakbeat,
hiphop, jazz, latin, house, dub, world and film music with a lot
of attention paid to atmosphere and quality. it is meant to create
a relaxing atmosphere, yet it still can be danced to often -though
not always- lounge music is instrumental and leave room for
completion
by the listener. lounge combines divergent and completely
different musical styles (eg, tango with hip hop) this might turn
the genre into 'the new music of the world'
in short lounge is an up-to-date version of the 'exotica' from
back in the 50s chumminess and intimacy are back!
