Release Notes:
--------
Since its opening chord, rock and roll has been about playing live, and no group
did it better, and with more passion and improvisational skills than the
original Allman Brothers Band. Founded in 1969 by visionary guitarist Duane
Allman, the ABB combined elements of blues, rock, jazz and country into a
combustible mixture, and in doing so created a new genre of music. Their music
was best heard live, and the groupÆs finest moments came at the Fillmore East,
promoter Bill GrahamÆs iconic concert hall located in New York CityÆs East
Village. It was there that the group reached their peak, as captured on 1971Æs
At Fillmore East, the bandÆs legacy recording, the recording by which all other
live sets are measured.

For the first time, the full spectrum of all four sets played on March 12 and
13, 1971 is presented on At Fillmore East: The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings,
and it makes for a fascinating audio look inside the shows that yielded the
greatest live album in rock history. There are 15 never before released tracks!
In addition, the bandÆs June 27, 1971 performance, where they were selected as
the closing act at the final show held at the Fillmore East, also is included in
this collection.
