│ As Soul Jazz Records continue to delve into the new electronic │
│ music coming out of the U.S. with releases by Kit Clayton and │
│ Sutekh on their "Microsolutions to Macro Problems" sub-label, │
│ they bring you next Ammoncontact. With previous releases on │
│ Prefuse 73's own Eastern Development label, Ammoncontact mix │
│ left-field Hip-Hop/Electronica/Deep Jazz to bring you truly │
│ classic new electronic music. Ammoncontact are Carlos Nino and │
│ Fabian Ammon. This 12" features 6 songs that were recorded in │
│ Los Angeles and features friends such as Daedalus and members of │
│ the original Tribe Records in Detroit. │

│ Fabian Ammon and Carlos Nino drop their second fine extended │
│ player this year. Their debut on the Eastern Developments label, │
│ with Carlos also centrally involved in arranging their immense │
│ Hu-Vibrational and other releases for scott herren, presented │
│ some of the finest electronic real hip hop we'd heard in a │
│ while. Here the boys adopt a slightly shifted guise, in keeping │
│ with Soul jazz's profile. 'Barbecue Plate' picks up where 'Beats │
│ From Bina's' takes off, clinical acoustic drum breaks, rude bass │
│ and their unfathomable electronic elements. 'Baila con Los │
│ Ninos' seems to cut some fine Tito puente styles with EPMD, no │
│ bad thing. But, the best is preserved for the flip, with 'Stab │
│ and Loop' diffused, cut-up and reshaped into a grinding rhythm. │
│ 'Weekends' picks up the proto- hardcore bass sounds of office │
│ favourite Kaman Leung, and rips it up next to the most sublime, │
│ chilled rhodes, warmest temperatures possible on this one! 'the │
│ Stars are singing too' brings in the considerable jazz │
│ connection between Fabian and Ammon, something of a spiritual │
│ get down, with its roots in the Donald Byrd with Voices school. │
