Berlin-based techno producer Dave Sumner
alias Function and New York experimental
artist Dominik Fernow aka Vatican Shadow
have teamed up to release a
collaborative album on FernowÆs own
Hospital Productions. Games Have Rules
was produced in the early morning hours
both at the Inanimate Object studios in
Berlin and at the labelÆs studio in New
York. The album sees the duo creating
unique electronic ambient music in
moving away from their individual
backgrounds: with FunctionÆs
uncompromising techno approach and
Vatican ShadowÆs lo-fi surfaces
mitigated, the result is a dynamic sound
exploration, its focus oscillating
between rhythm and timbre.
