'The Sound' is a monthly audio experience mixed exclusively
for Proton Radio by Lance Cashion. Join us on the web for a
musical experience like no other. Prepare for a journey in
to house music. Lance will move you through different
regions of what house music is today and what house music
will be tomorrow. If you dig on Tech-house, breakbeats,
downtempo and deep progressive funk? Then, 'The Sound' is
what you are looking for. Keeping the mix fresh and ever
changing is the name of the game. You'll hear the most
upfront tracks from new artists and accomplished producers
along will some older stuff thrown into the mix. It will be
an interesting two hours to say the least. Look out for the
occasional guest mix as well by DJs from around the world.

Lance Cashion comes to us from Fort Worth, Texas. Where at
the tender age of 3 years old, he was given his first set of
drums. Since that time Lance has grown with the music
beginning in Orlando, Florida during the early to
mid-nineties and then in Austin, Texas from 1998 to the
present. As a DJ, Lance has played along-side many of the
greats including: John Digweed, Deep Dish, Hybrid, Danny
Howells, Steve Lawler, Sander Klienenberg, Anthony Pappa,
Jimmy Van M, Paul Oakenfold, John Graham (Quivver), Chris
Fortier and Timo Maas to name a few.
His style varies from progressive-house and break beats, to
deep tech funk. He is best known for his ability to cross
genres with great ease and smoothness. From his
unforgettable opening sets for the 'Big Boys' to his
legendary 7 hour marathon sets at Texture in Austin. His
passion as a DJ carries over into the studio where in early
2003, he started working on his own as a producer.
Previously, Lance had put out tracks with Scott Dixon
(Voyager) and Shane Howard (Expansion). Moving away from
engineers and co-producers allowed Lance to follow the music
in his heart. His first track called "Parkway Shuffle"
caught the ears of James Zabiela, Tyler Stadius, and John
Lisle. CP Recordings signed it to their Digital Label, CPR.
"Parkway Shuffle" has become a mainstay in many DJs' opening
sets. Following up "Shuffle" with "Sunrise Track", Lance had
come out of the woodwork, so to speak, delivering two tracks
that turned heads. His tracks are based on his DJ sets where
warming up the floor then transition into edgier music is
the key.
Lance is known as producer who shares many of his tracks for
free on the internet. Getting his music into as many
people's hand who will listen and share is Lance's way of
spreading the gospel of giving a deeper experience in music.
In March of 2003, Lance was offered a monthly slot on Proton
Radio, which gave Lance a broader opportunity to share his
music. "The Sound" which airs the 1st Tuesday of every month
at 3pm EST is a continuation of Lance's original radio show
of the same name on MEGA 93.3 FM in Austin. Lance will be
mixing the first CD compilation for Proton Radio. The
compilation is made up of donated tracks from up and coming
artists and established producers who support Proton Radio.
Be on the look out for this groundbreaking series.In
February of 2004, Lance did his first remix for CP
Recordings of Chloe Harris & Turkish's track, "Sweater
Bunnies" due for release in July. The remix has already
given goose bumps to those who have heard it. Hearing Lance
from the dancefloor is a musical journey that you will not
soon forget.
