first in a series of 12" rhythm workouts & grooves of latin
origin, focusing on the more traditional afro-cuban rhythms of the
street and the dancefloor. each a side will be ten minutes plus of
pure latin percussion with a contemporary remix on the flipside.
first up is the rhythm 'mozambique' performed by the grandfather
of the u.k. latin scene, robin jones. over the years robin has
played with the likes of tito puente, charlie palmieri, eartha
kitt and sade to name a few, you have to hear his conga playing
and timbale solo's to believe it ! on the flipside, bullitnuts
from pork recordings take the core of this rhythm to produce a 'nu
yorican soul' style mix (hence, in true pork style, the name 'new
yorkshire dole' mix !) already receiving excellent reviews:10/10
in wax magazine & 'single of the month', melody maker 'a seriously
funky rhythm workout with an ultra-smooth bullinuts remix on the
other side, superb!', mixmag update 'fuck me..yeah...definately a
label to watch for the eclectic set !' reviews still to come in
muzik, straight no chaser, record mirror & dj mag with dj support
from ashley beedle, una bombers, idjut boys and most of the latin
crowd.
congas, bongos, djembes and all manner of percussion blend
intricately to create a driving sonic force to be reckoned with.
