▓████▓▌ is now a reality! This is a collection of original ▓▌
▓████▓▌ compositions of mine, and features Kirk MacDonald ▓▌
▓████▓▌ on saxophones, Kieran Overs on bass, and both Barry ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Romberg and Anthony Michelli on drums. ▓▌

▓████▓▌ A few words about the compositions on "When She ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Dreams". ▓▌
▓████▓▌ "Thirty" is my homage to Wayne Shorter, a huge ▓▌
▓████▓▌ influence for me. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ "A la Brunante" is inspired by Quebec artist Ann ▓▌
▓████▓▌ St. Gelais' beautiful painting of the same name, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ which I'm thrilled to say is hanging on my wall. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ "Blues For The Hatchet Man" is basically a Horace ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Silver-y funky tune with dark edges and a slippery ▓▌
▓████▓▌ slope. The others are stories of passage. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ▓▌

▓████▓▌ country's jazz scene makes do with the star-making ▓▌
▓████▓▌ laurels bestowed by the MontrΘal Jazz Festival's ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Grand Prix de Jazz. Last year's winner, Toronto ▓▌
▓████▓▌ pianist Nancy Walker, shows, with her latest disc, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ why she won. ▓▌

▓████▓▌ Walker is a composer of keen tunes and a colourful ▓▌
▓████▓▌ player. When She Dreams is distinguished by her ▓▌
▓████▓▌ most fluent, go-for-it playing and affecting ▓▌
▓████▓▌ writing yet. The disc begins on a sombre, neo- ▓▌
▓████▓▌ classical note with Vigil, a trio number showcasing ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Walker's harmonic richness and lyricism (Walker, by ▓▌
▓████▓▌ the way, has studied with Fred Hersch, but that's ▓▌
▓████▓▌ coincidental). ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Saxophonist Kirk MacDonald plays on the rest of the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ disc with the trio, bringing high-energy eloquence ▓▌
▓████▓▌ to contemporary, often celebratory songs that swing ▓▌
▓████▓▌ broadly and roam through interesting musical ▓▌
▓████▓▌ territory. It would be daunting for most pianists ▓▌
▓████▓▌ to share the stage with MacDonald, but Walker makes ▓▌
▓████▓▌ her strong impression with ear-catching chords and ▓▌
