Well it is very difficult not ║ │ │║ to with Vocals reminiscent of Timo Koltipelto ║ │ │║ from STRATOVARIUS, songs echoing the composition ║ │ │║ of NIGHTWISH and sharing more in common with ║ │ │║ Finnish bands than Swedish ones does lend itself ║ │ │║ to not classing SwedenÆs DIONYSUS along with all ║ │ │║ the rest as generic run-of-the-mill Power Metal. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ DIONYSUS offers hope for those who were big fans ║ │ │║ of bands like STRATOVARIUS and others like them ║ │ │║ since the recent drama involving Timo Tolkki has ║ │ │║ put the future of that band in question. Some ║ │ │║ tracks such as ôHeart is Cryingö have aspects ║ │ │║ that are heavier than most Power Metal and ║ │ │║ spacey keyboards that really make me think of ║ │ │║ SYMPHONY X at times. The choruses of every song ║ │ │║ are traditional Power Metal in the sense that ║ │ │║ you can sing along and feel like a warrior ║ │ │║ against the world raising your fist in the air ║ │ │║ to Metal. Structurally pretty standard but ║ │ │║ elements like different keyboard tones and some ║ │ │║ very heavy-handed riffs spice ôAnima Mundiö up ║ │ │║ just enough to warrant some repeat listens and ║ │ │║ spins. The intro riff to the track ôWhatö is ║ │ │║ very catchy and I would strongly recommend at ║ │ │║ least checking DIONYSUS out even if swords and ║ │ │║ mythology are not exactly your bag typically. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ DIONYSUSÆ musicianship coupled with good song ║ │ │║ writing does make ôAnima Mundiö of the few Power ║ │ │║ Metal albums of recent times that donÆt get ║ │ │║ boring or repetitive overall with the same ║ │ │║ formula.
