- -- Release notes ---------------------------------------------------- -- -
North Pagan Folk Rock/Metal from Norway, using 3 traditional
norwegian instruments in addition to flute and cello in
symbiosis with the wilder rock/metal sound.
"Eliwagar was created back in december 2006 by Runahild, who
remains the only official member of this porject as she is the
one to write all music and lyrics. Runahild recorded 2 Neofolk
cds "And The Ancestral Pagan Flame Shall Never Fade" and
"Fjellfolk Saga Fra Forntiden" playing all instruments herself
(mostly flute, drums, concertina and some keyboards). She met
her husband Bjorn Dahl in 2010 and he became session
guitarist, together they recorded 2 other Neofolk cds "Sagn
Fra Nordafolkets Land" and "Fra Hjertet Av Norden", this time
with only Norwegian lyrics (while the 2 previous releases were
in English and German) and Runahild got a Hardanger Fiddle
(traditional norwegian fiddle).
With "Gryningen", Eliwagar comes with her first album of Pagan
Folk Rock/Metal after these 4 previous cds of pure Neofolk. On
this release, Runahild plays 3 old traditional norwegian
instruments: hardanger fiddle, bowed lyre and langeleik, in
addition she plays also flute and cello. The old norwegian
instruments really give a deep and strong connection to the
norwegian nature and landscape and carry energies from the
past and memories of ancient ancestral tunes. On this cd, her
husband Bjorn Dahl plays electric guitar, Roar Ruus Finsas
joined to play bass, Wargnar the drums, Nils Ailo Sara Labba,
a Sami friend of the band, plays the lead guitar on some songs
and Hildr Valkyrie (Greece) is guest singer on 2 songs. Their
collaboration brought to Eliwagar a real good energy and
strength. While the Neofolk cds of Eliwagar have a more
spiritual sound, "Gryningen" has a wilder feeling fitting more
for feasts though without loosing the spiritual energies.
The Eliwagar music represents the beauty and might of nature,
the pure essence of paganism, the countryside lifestyle
following the seasons and concentrate on the positive
energies...Runahild tries to create melodies out of the deep
feelings she gets while being in symbiosis with nature..."
