Release Notes:
--------
On paper, an instrumental acoustic guitar duo sounds like an odd idea, one that
could quickly veer toward the redundant. But in the hands of Julian Lage and
Chris "Critter" Eldridge (Punch Brothers), two of today's most accomplished
six-string slingers, this dual guitar approach is the perfect means to draw new
inspiration from an instrument so firmly rooted in tradition.

"Steady Proof" is the lead single off the duo's first full-length album, Avalon,
which comes out on Oct. 7.

Described by the duo as "a pristinely recorded love letter to the sound of the
acoustic guitar," Avalon, produced by Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton
Kids, allows the two virtuosic players to explore their instruments in new ways,
charting new sonic territories in both the harmonies and the dissonance they are
able to create.

We asked Julian to share a little about how he and Critter brought "Steady
Proof" to life and how the song fits into their larger aesthetic:

ôOne of our favorite things to explore in this duo is the orchestrational
dynamic of two acoustic guitars and how they can, at times, sound like one giant
guitar and at other times, sound like two totally different animals. This was
part of our intent in writing this piece, to highlight the relationship between
these two modes of interaction through exploring a kind of phasing effect
between the two instruments.ö
