You know the rock world is in trouble when bands keep ditching the electric
guitars for synths û people were bemoaning this shift way back with Van HalenÆs
"Jump". But Die MannequinÆs polished, new single ôSucker Punchö feels like
something different. Self-described as EDM û Evil Dance Music in this case û
itÆs blends the riff-heavy elements of the bandÆs earlier material with a trendy
electro sheen, and comes off as surprisingly genuine.

ôItÆs really just been a natural progression,ö lead singer Care Failure explains
in a press release. ôIf it sounds like a big change for people, thatÆs just
because of the years between the last record (2009Æs Juno-nominated Fino +
Bleed) and now. IÆve been DJing quite a bit over the past few years, and what I
do is very contemporary and quite dancey. And IÆve been writing a lot on piano
again. IÆve always had so many different influences that werenÆt necessarily
just rock. But when I started in music I was 14 and 15 and I kind of got stuck
in this teenage punk hell of having to play the same songs for 10 years.ö
