Barish Turker was born in 1976, Istanbul. He obtained his
college degree in Architectural Engineering from the
University of Hartford. His passion for music began with his
long excapades into the world of R'n'b and Soul until he
moved to America for his education. He was introduced to
electronic music in 1995 at small raves that took place
around Hartford. His passion for electronic music grew fast
as he started to be a regular at the unforgettable Tunnel in
New York listening to Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia at
that time. His craze for this music has become unstoppable
when he started to go to the legendary Twilo club for Sasha
and John Digweed's monthly residency nights. He became a
regular at Twilo and had the chance to experience more live
sets by various djΓÇÖs. He was so influenced by all these
great dj sets that he got into dj'ing in the early 2000.
Barish has since been DJ ing with a pious dedication for the
past 3 years and his hard work is felt in his key mixing
abilities and exceptional track selection. After he moved to
New York he became a resident at Ice Bar in the West
Village. He won a live dj set competition that took place in
the Leopard Lounge for a weekly residency with Mark Divine
who used to spin at Limelight, Sound Factory,etc. He started
presenting the Muzak Therapy nights at East Villages well
known Liquids with his partner Julio Terra. During his
residencies at Liquids and Leopard Lounge he had the chance
to play in QueensΓÇÖs infamous Wonderland rave parties and
also more local prestigious lounges in New York City such as
Plant, etc.
Barish has moved to Istanbul for good at the end of May 2002
and played at Reactor Systems parties and also became a
resident at TurkeyΓÇÖs most prestigious clubs such as
Crystal, Nuclub and Underground. He has been presenting one
of the best nights in Istanbul called 'TOGETHER' on Thursday
nights with Dj Fuchs, Cervus a.k.a Subsky, Yunus Guvenen
a.k.a Mavi and Indigo Child, Muzo B and Agent Orange at Club
Crystal and has hosted Yunus Guvenen and Muzo B at Nuclub on
Friday nights. He also spun with dj's and producers such as
Main Element (Gwill Morris), Moshic, Oliver Klein, Corvin
Dalek, and Brenda Russell at Reactor Systems Parties and
Underground ΓÇô his early weekly residency. He is known by
his friends as one of the most disciplined and motivated Dj
in the country, nothing can tear him apart from the booth
not even a broken leg!
His blend of unique sounds and rather hypnotic approach has
caught the attention of IDJ magazine (May 2003 issue), which
commented his set with great review in the ReadersΓÇÖ Mixes
Section. Moreover, in the first week of July and November,
Yunus Guvenen hosted Barish's one hour sets for 34 bpm show
at Protonradio.com. The set that was broadcasted on the 2nd
of November got great reactions and reviews, especially by
PolandΓÇÖs club culture site www.soundrevolt.com . For the
last few months, Barish has been presenting four different
shows (one hour dj sets) every week at Dj FuchsΓÇÖ (Ali
Sahinbas) and Agent OrangeΓÇÖs (Mete Tavukcuoglu) brand new
radio station Dinamo 103.8 / www.dinamo.fm. In addition,
Barish has been quite busy working in the studio with Muzo B
and has just finished the follow up to their already Digweed
favourite "Adequate Medication" that was first spotted at
Coloursfest '03 (Scotland) on May 25th. Recently, Barish,
Yunus Guvenen, Subsky (Goktug Citci) and Muzo B have started
a brand new record label called Red Flag Collective (which
is one of Release Records' label group). After his
successful gigs in the states (Proton's Progressive Party
(w/ Subsky) at Aqua - Miami, Red Flag Collective Release
Party (w/ Yunus) at Hartford, CT and Swamy's Sunday night
party at Le Souk (w/ Astro & Glyde) ΓÇô New york, Barish is
ready now to make his debut very soon.
