The only thing more unfortunate than the
demise of a loved band is when said band
fails to offer its' fans any sort of
passing gift. Whilst Melbourne lo-fi
indie poppers Sleepy Township
unfortunately broke up during 2002, the
band was caring enough to opt for a
going-away present, that being the
delightful odds'n'sods retrospective "All
These Records". Over twenty thoughtful
tunes, "All These Records" provides for
an entertaining history lesson into the
world of Sleepy Township, via a series of
hard-to-obtain compilation/7" single
releases, and a bevy of previously
unreleased songs recorded between
1994-2000. Particular mention must go to
the lo-fi charms of 'Houses', 'One Horse
Town' and 'Leaving', as well as the
albums gorgeous packaging and artwork,
and the extensive liner notes provided by
the band. A superb closing chapter to a
fine band's career.
