Russian DJ and producer Ruslan Vashkevich debuts on Bonzai Progressive with
the superb three tracker titled Simargl. Ruslan is a champion of the darker
more energised side of progressive house sliding into deeper trance. His DJ
sets on many online radioshows can testify to this as well as clubs in Moscow.
First up we have the deep atmospheric Simargl with its provoking intro that
fades through with rising pads and some colourful subtle FX. Out of nowhere a
massive pounding kick punches you in the gut and carries you along on this
wonderful journey into the deep. The layers build slowly and the track
meanders along with a walking bassline that bubbles up from below. Tightly
arranged percussion patterns provide a solid rhythm as stabby synths tease.
The break throws up some very cool spoken word samples that really adds to the
dark nature of the sound. Top notch stuff here that will keep those dark rooms
pumping. Dunga Gongma intros with a huge punchy kick with a nice clip on top
as a myriad of weird and wonderful bubbly FX go off in the background. A
sinister sounding pad begins to rise up as a deep rolling bassline takes over
the sound. Super tight arrangement that builds smoothly into a monster groove
with various synth arps providing cool textures. The break offers a hint of
melody before we are thrust back into this solid deep progressive workout, not
to be missed. Samantabhadra completes this debut in style. A very darkly
intriguing intro will get your attention right away as distant voices and
sounds come through. The track gets going proper with a beautifully balanced
kick and bass combo. The bass thunders through the sound alongside some
melodic rising arps that become a big focus. Expertly crafted FX provide some
nice fillers as the track evolves, on the break those arps get busy once again
to the backdrop of that throbbing bass. Another dark progressive stomper that
will sit well in any deep set.
