MAKE TIME
Hello! Thankyou for being here!
I'm REALLY excited about this project and I hope you will be as well!
Here's the low-down: The Suitcase Junket is a nationally touring,
throat-singing, slide-guitar-playing, one-man-band. No loops or special
effects, just one guy (Matt Lorenz [that's me]) making a racket with homemade
foot-drums, a beater guitar, a pile of songs and a mouth. It started back in
2009 with the desire to make one person sound like many and keeps evolving in
sound, spirit and style. I've released two studio albums and played hundreds
of shows all over this fine country. Now I've got a new record to release!
I feel extremely lucky to have found a wide community of people who like my
music. All of you who come out to shows and buy stuff make this path possible
for me and one of my favorite things in the world is to share a roomful of
songs with a whole bunch of friends and strangers. Traveling around the
country and playing music for people has made me a better musician and a
better person.
This album - Make Time - is the best thing I've recorded yet. (I hope I can
keep saying that with every album I make.) The songs are fresh and new and
the great Justin Pizzoferrato captured them expertly in the studio. I feel
that I've moved forward into new creative territory while maintaining the
roots and the rawness that have always made this project so exciting. I've
always tried to vary the feel of my songs within an album or a show so the
performance doesn't get monotonous. This new album is no exception to that
rule.
So here we are now. I'm an independent professional musician and I love my
job. It's scary and thrilling to know that I rely on other people for my
livelihood, but then I take a step back and see that we all rely on each other
in some way and it's this interdependency that makes for a rich and fulfilling
life.
What I'm asking for here is your support and faith. Your actions give me the
ability to continue my pursuit of music and art. With these funds I will be
able to release my new record and stock up on the merchandise that keeps me
afloat on the road.
I'm asking for a lot of money, I know. Here's the rundown:
- $ 3000 Studio time for recording, mixing and mastering. (These steps are
already done but I still have to pay for some of them.)
-$1700 CD packaging and duplication
-$2300 Vinyl packaging and pressing
-$550 Tshirts
-$325 Hats
-$150 Stickers
-$150 Posters/Prints
-+/-$500 Shipping (this final step is always a shock. it adds up fast)
So now that you know where the money is going, here's what you'll be getting
for your contributions!
I've tried to make most of the prizes and extras in advance so you can see
what you'll be getting. This includes most of the limited edition prints and
posters, the junk tambourines, some sculptures and the like. (The hats and
t-shirts will have to wait till I can pay for them, but they will have the
album art on them which you can see up top.) In regards to the pieces of art,
since I'm only doing a limited number of them, they will be gradually
appearing and disappearing throughout the campaign. So if you see something
you like, better jump on it! (I will be keeping a gallery of images up at

If you don't have the moolah to help out, don't worry! I know what that's
like. All I can ask of you is to please help spread the word by posting,
sharing, etc.
