Tea Time with John Ioannou. Tea Time with.... intends to
provide some of the best underground deep house, tech-house
and breakbeat from across the globe. Alongside John will be
some of the best up-n-coming and established DJ's, and
showcases from the finest producers and labels in the scene.
BIO
Nigel Marcussen, originally from New Zealand, took up DJing
shortly after moving to London at the start of 2001. His
first promotional CD drew a fantastic response which earned
him gigs at numerous house parties and a guest slot at Coded
û a night at Brighton's famous Escape Club. Nigel went on to
take up a summer residency at Coded and enjoyed guest
performances at several of London's underground house
nights, including a 5-hour set at the Junktion Christmas
Special and a 3-hour midnight set at an exclusive Soho
member's club NYE party.
A tour of Poland in the summer of 2003 saw Nigel headline 6
gigs across the country at some of Poland's most prestigious
clubs including Klatka (Warsaw) and Club Snake (Suwalki) to
name a few. An enthusiastic welcome from clubs and clubbers
alike already sees Nigel planning his return with two more
trips scheduled for this year. Forthcoming repeat and new
bookings for two of London's up-and-coming underground
nights, Audio Deluxe and Tight, as well as a return to
Brighton's Coded, will see Nigel playing alongside some of
the bigger names in the London house scene û such as Anthony
Pappa, Luis Paris and Danny Mitchell.
Nigel has produced four promotional CDs to date, all of
which have been received incredibly well and aired globally
on internet radio stations broadcasting as far afield as
London, New York and Tokyo. iDJ magazine described Nigel's
third CD, Grind (March 2003), as "a winning formula of the
decidedly unformulaicà a set that will get him noticed".
They weren't wrongà the mix attracted the attention of
MercuryServer, who offered Nigel a monthly residency on the
soon to be launched MercuryNation radio station. Not a bad
list of achievements for 2 years on the decks!
Describing Nigel's sound is not easyà striving to stand out
from the crowd with less-known tunes armed with an extra
edge, the result is a diverse mix incorporating elements of
house, tribal, tech and technoà always dirty and always
twisted.
